PAUL SIMON: Acts to Keep House from “Slip Slidin’ Away”

Paul Simon has had to relocate his cottage on New York’s Long Island because it was literally in danger of “Slip Slidin’ Away.”

During an especially wet winter, when heavy rains and snow hit its Montauk location, the ground under the luxury cottage eroded dangerously. That forced Simon to move the building, built in 1950, from the edge of a bluff to keep it from tumbling into the Atlantic Ocean.

Simon had plenty of room on his seven-and-a-half acre spread to find a new spot for the house. It’s now 80 feet farther from the bluff above the water. (Newsday)
